A distinguished faculty in the gastrointestinal field from all six New England states have joined together as they showcase the latest cutting-edge endoscopic procedures from October 31 – November 2, 2013 at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel. The live event is produced by VideoLink LLC – a leading video service provider headquartered in Newton, Massachusetts. This is the 12th year that VideoLink has produced the event. Moderated by a team of experts in the GI field, VideoLink will also transmit the course to hospital staffs throughout the New England area.
VideoLink will be broadcasting simultaneous live surgical procedures from seven medical centers including: Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston Medical Center, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, Maine Medical Center, in Portland, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), and Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. Boston area hospitals will have two procedure rooms set up for broadcast and the regional hospitals will have one procedure room setup for broadcast. Each surgical room will have one manned HD camera as well as connections to their sophisticated diagnostic tools including scopes, fluoroscope imaging and ultrasound, to show the doctor(s) performing the procedures. These images will be transmitted live to VideoLink’s production facility at their headquarters location in Newton, MA where the program is mixed.
The live video feed will be sent via a direct high-definition fiber optic link from the VideoLink control room to the Boston Fairmont Copley Hotel where a panel of doctors and audience members will interact via two?way audio with the doctors performing the procedures. The live procedures will be shown in high-definition screens behind the distinguished panel of doctors, so participants can be immersed in the procedure.
“VideoLink is extremely pleased to partner again with Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, MGH, Boston Medical Center and Roger Williams Medical Center, to produce this wonderful live event”, said Rich Silton, CEO and president of VideoLink. “Seeing these procedures live provides a unique learning experience you can’t receive through lectures and edited video. It’s exciting to see the medical community embrace the power of video.” This year, the medical community focused their educational outreach specifically on the New England region, adding three additional hospitals and faculty from six other institutions.
